We contributed a VR chemical fire scenario to a polymer workshop

We contributed, free of charge, a VR application that lets participants practise responding to a chemical fire to a Polymer Workshop supported under TÜBİTAK’s 2237-A programme.

During a presentation at the Polymer Workshop, a participant tries the application in a VR headset next to the Imverge banner.

The workshop

“Polymer Workshop for a Sustainable Future” (Sürdürülebilir Bir Gelecek İçin Polimer Atölyesi) is a training event supported under the 2237-A Scientific Education Activities Support Programme of TÜBİTAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye. The workshop brings polymers, sustainability and recycling together with hands-on scientific learning.

Our contribution

We contributed an application that lets participants experience responding to a chemical fire in virtual reality. Participants practised the response steps for an emergency that would be dangerous to stage for real, in a safe setting. We provided our contribution free of charge.

Bringing safety into science education

Any setting where chemicals and polymer materials are handled also carries a fire risk. Making room for safety training inside a science workshop shows participants not only the material itself but also what it takes to work with it safely.
